I've been busy with CPWN-related work. (Porting Wikia's crap is very hard, it's a f*cking mess!)
I have decided to revert back to Chyrp work for the moment. I need to finish up my planned Bootstrap theme for Chyrp. :$
I still love Chyrp. Really, I still do. And after this, I'm going back to Chyrp or Drupal for my next site.
So yesterday, I wanted to try WordPress as a CMS for an upcoming site instead of Chyrp, reason being that there are few themes for Chyrp and there are far more for WordPress. So I did.
That didn't work out well, however. 5-second page loads as an authenticated user and a good cacher (W3 Total Cache) only gets you far.
I run Debian wheezy (testing as of around July 4) and the main applications running on this server are Chyrp, DokuWiki and LOTS of MediaWiki, on Apache + mod_fcgid. Server has 768MB (yes) of RAM, a 2.53GHz single-core Pentium 4-class (yes again) CPU and aforementioned apps work very fast. (Well, perhaps not MediaWiki, but I observed some good speed from it.)
Fuck you, WordPress. Perhaps you need a good washing. And no, I am NOT switching to nginx. You guys make it delibrately hard to configure PHP.

<Tux> EU? EW
<Iamred> So they want to make a United States of Europe to save the Euro, with Germany in charge.
<Iamred> What a brilliant plan! Why did nobody think of that before?
<Mocha|Busy> Is all that true?
